Refund requests involving, for example, the serious illness or death of the learner, parent or grandparent, sibling, spouse or child in the immediate family will always be considered.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c9686e1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c9686e1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul><li>\u00a0<b>Domestic learners <\/b>are entitled to a refund if they withdraw from a programme or training scheme as per section 235 of the Education Act 1989, and the course is of three months\u2019 duration or more and the withdrawal occurs up to the end of the eighth day after the start of a course. In such cases the private training establishment (PTE) must refund an amount equal to the sum of the amount paid less a deduction of the lesser of 10 per cent of the fees paid or $500<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-76effa4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"76effa4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul><li>\u00a0<b>International learners\u00a0<\/b>are entitled to a refund as follows:<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-0d9327c elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"0d9327c\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column fa-caret-up\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a class=\"elementor-toggle-title\" tabindex=\"0\">Courses of three calendar months or more <\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/h5>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-1171\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"1\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-1171\"><p>If the course is of three months duration or more and the withdrawal occurs up to the end of the tenth working day after the first day on which the PTE requires the student to attend the establishment:<\/p><p>In such cases Canterbury College may deduct up to 25 per cent of the fees paid, provided the PTE incurred costs to this amount and can justify these costs.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-toggle-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h5 id=\"elementor-tab-title-1172\" class=\"elementor-tab-title\" data-tab=\"2\" role=\"button\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-1172\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon elementor-toggle-icon-left\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-closed\"><i class=\"fas fa-caret-right\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-title\" tabindex=\"0\">Courses of five weeks or more but less than three calendar months <\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/h5>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-1172\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"2\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-1172\"><p>If the course is of five weeks or more but less than three months and the withdrawal occurs up to the end of the fifth day after the start of the course:<\/p><p>In such cases, Canterbury College must pay an amount equal to the fees paid less a deduction of 25 per cent.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-toggle-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h5 id=\"elementor-tab-title-1173\" class=\"elementor-tab-title\" data-tab=\"3\" role=\"button\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-1173\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon elementor-toggle-icon-left\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-closed\"><i class=\"fas fa-caret-right\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-opened\"><i class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-opened fas fa-caret-up\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a class=\"elementor-toggle-title\" tabindex=\"0\">Courses of under five weeks <\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/h5>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-1173\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"3\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-1173\"><p>If the course is under five weeks and the withdrawal occurs up to the end of the second day after the start of the course:<\/p><p>In such cases, Canterbury College must pay an amount equal to the fees paid less a deduction of 50 per cent. However, if two days constitutes the full amount of tuition paid for by the student, the PTE may retain 100 per cent of the payment<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-76f5fcb elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" contractual and financial disputes between international learners and education providers. In most cases, they will be able to resolve the problem to your satisfaction.<\/p><p>If you are not satisfied you may contact the Director of Studies, or the Principal to try to find a satisfactory solution.<\/p><p>If your complaint is still not resolved, you should contact NZQA, who will listen to, and assess your complaint. NZQA has developed a student-focused brochure with contact information.
